We grew up on two very different sides of the country—Maddy in San Francisco and John in Tennessee—but somehow both ended up at Kenyon College, a tiny school in rural Ohio. Surprisingly, that's not how our story begins! Despite being on the same campus and even attending some of the same parties, we never crossed paths.

A few years later, we met in Nashville while Maddy was finishing law school and planning a move to New York City, and John had recently moved back home. Our first date was at a happy hour at a bar called Answer, and we still love to joke that it turned out to be exactly that.

After John told Maddy he wasn't going to let her move without him, we spent a year and a half on the Upper East Side building our life together, working, exploring the city, and eating a lot of Sugarfish.

On a random Sunday at the end of December 2025, we found the perfect first home for us listed in Nashville. We felt like it was meant to be and decided to move back and put down permanent roots closer to family.

John proposed on the porch of our new home, which just so happens to be two blocks away from Answer (and we still love the happy hour!). We can't wait to celebrate our wedding with you in Napa, and thank you for being a part of our story all along!
